Smartwatches
Most smartwatches are easily connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth. To do this, you activate Bluetooth connections on both devices and search for the connection of the watch on your smartphone. Then you just have to confirm the pairing and your Smartwatch is ready for use.
Smartwatches often have additional functions that have less to do with fitness. For example, many smartwatches allow you to use apps, take calls or make payments. In addition, smartwatches are more like conventional watches in terms of appearance, to live up to their name.
Most smartwatches can be charged using the included USB charging cable, while others have an integrated charging plug. Some high-priced models also offer contactless charging. To do this, place the Smartwatch directly on a suitable wireless charger.
Not all smartwatches have functions for making phone calls. For those that have this function, you should consider one aspect: If the Smartwatch does not have a SIM card slot in which you have inserted a SIM card, the phone call only works if your smartphone is also nearby. Then it transfers the call to your watch. If, on the other hand, you have a Smartwatch with a SIM card, it connects directly to the mobile network and lets you use the Internet everywhere - even if you don't have your smartphone with you.
Not all smartwatches allow you to reply directly to messages and only allow you to read incoming messages. Some do allow you to reply to messages, but you should be aware that typing long replies on such a small screen is difficult. Instead, smartwatches offer you a choice of ready-made sentences or dictation options.
It depends on the smartwatch. Most smartwatches measure at least:
- Steps.
- Distance traveled.
- Calories burned.
- Exercise time.
- Information about your sleep.
Many smartwatches now also have a heart rate monitor to keep track of your heart rate.
Most smartwatches give you a good and relatively precise overview of your activity and health values, but the accuracy can vary somewhat from model to model. If you want to have particularly accurate results, perhaps for health reasons, you should turn to separate or even professional blood pressure monitors, pedometers and similar medical devices.
Normal smartwatches are unsuitable for children due to their size and the available functions alone. That's why there are special smartwatches for children between the ages of six and twelve that measure the little ones' activity and offer them useful and fun options.
